Turnips with Spinach

3 Turnips – peeled, diced into cubes
2 Tomatoes – chopped
1 Onion – Sliced
Spinach – 1 Bunch chopped
Salt – to taste
Red Chilli Powder – to taste
Turmeric Powder – ¾ tsp
Coriander Powder – ¾ tsp
Ginger paste – ½ tsp
Garlic paste – 1 tsp (optional)
Cumin Seeds – ¾ tsp
Green/Red Chillies – 3
Oil – 2 tsp
Cilantro – finely chopped

In a pan, heat oil
Once the oil is hot, add in the cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle
Add sliced onions and saute it till it changes colour on a medium flame
Add ginger and garlic paste for a minute
Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and coriander powder. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes till done
Add turnips, mix it well and cover it and cook on low flame till it 3/4th done
Add chopped spinach, green/red chillies and cilantro. Mix well, cover it and cook on low flame till it changes the colour or look like roasted and oil gets separated
Serve hot with chapatis or naan
