Paneer Tikka Masala

In this dish paneer is marinated in a yogurt mixture and then cooked in a spicy and creamy sauce.It is having a smoky flavour.Chicken tikka masala is a very popular tasty non-veg dish,so here is the vegetarian version of it.A delicious,rich and flavorful dish,which is very easy to cook.


For marination

Paneer cubes – 200g
Cubed capsicum – 1
Cubed tomato – 1
Cubed onion – 1
Thick yogurt – 4 tbs
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Kasuri methi powder – ½ tsp
Lemon juice – ½ tsp
Salt as required
Oil – 1 tbs

For tikka masala

Oil – 1 tbs
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Finely chopped onion – 1
Tomato puree – ¾ – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ¼ tsp
Fresh cream – 3 tbs
Oil – 1 tbs
Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbs
Salt as required


1.In a bowl put all the cubed vegetables and paneer,then add all the given ingredients under marination.Mix all together and marinate for 1-2 hrs.
2. Heat a non stick pan and toast the marinated paneer and vegetables on medium flame till golden brown and keep it aside.
3.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds,when it crackles add chopped onion,saute it till slight brown,then add ginger garlic paste and saute it for few minutes.
4.Now add the tomato puree and all the spices turmeric powder,chilli powder,coriander powder,cumin powder and garam masala powder,then mix well altogether.Add little water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
5.Add the toasted paneer and vegetables to the gravy and cook for few minutes in low flame.
6.If you think the gravy is too thick, add water according to your consistency.When it reaches the right consistency add the fresh cream and stir in.Switch off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with naan,chapathi,pulao or paratha..
