Moong Dal Barfi


500 gms moong dal

200 gms sugar

250 gms ghee

1/2 tsp cardamom powder

50 gms cashew nuts

1/2 cup water


Clean the dal dry,in a heavy pan on medium flame fry the dal dry( continual stir)  till color changes to golden brown and a pleasant aroma comes out, cool it, grind it to a fine powder, sieve it. set aside.

Heat the pan, add water, sugar, stir till sugar dissolves. Add 125 gms of ghee, boil it, add dal powder, mix well, cook it on low heat adding remaining ghee  partially, it takes 10-15 minutes and takes form of a soft lump, leaving the sides of the pan, turn off the flame, add cashews, cardamom powder, mix well.

Pour into a greased tray and level it with a greased knife, cool it.

After 1/2 an hour cut it into desired shapes. Ready to serve.

May be used 10-12 days.
