Corn Cones Recipe

Corn cones are as appealing in looks as in taste. The maida based corn cups are filled with corn filling made from tinned corn and a creamy herbed dressing.

preparation time : 10 minutes
cooking time : 30 minutes
serves / makes : 12 cones


1 litre oil for deep frying
for the cones:
2 cups (400 gm) aashirwaad maida
4 tbsp (60 ml) hot ghee
salt to taste

for the corn filling:
200 gm corn
1 tin (200 gm) creamed corn
2 onions, chopped fine
½tsp aashirwad ginger garlic paste
2 green chillies, finely chopped
½ cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
3 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp garam masala powder
4 tbsp butter


mix all the cone ingredients and bind to a soft dough. divide it into six portions. roll each portion into a thin roti. cut each into half. wrap the half roti around a metal cone, covering three fourth of the cone. repeat with the rest of the dough. fry the cones in hot oil for three minutes. remove from oil and rently remove the dough cone from the metal cone. put the dough cone back into the oil and fry till golde brown and crisp. to serve, fill with the corn filling and serve hot.

Method for corn filling:
heat three tablespoon butter in a pan. and the corn and creamed corn to the butter and stir for four minutes. add ½ cup water and cook the corn for 10 minutes. heat the remaining butter in another pan and fry the onions well. add the giner paste, garlic paste, green chillies and coriander leaves and stir well. add the corn mixture and salt to taste. keep stirring until dry. add sugar, lemon juice and the garam masala powder. mix well.
