Serve: 8 people
Mung dal 500 – Gms
Mustard oil 250 –Gms
Salt 2 – tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Banarsi rai (not mustard seeds) - 50 Gms
Hing (asafetida) – ½ tsp
Say you start on Monday evening
take earthen pot (ghara), heat tava on medium flame, put hing on it, smoke starts, fully cover it by inverted earthen pot, off the flame after one minute, let it cool naturally for 1o minutes, now fill up pot ¾ by hot water and crushed banarsi rai, add 1 -2 tsp of salt and red chili powder, cover it. It is kanji, set aside.
Soak mung dal over night,
Grind soaked dal in to a fine paste using minimum quantity of water, add 1tsp of salt and turmeric powder, stir it, and keep it aside for three hours.
Fry in small pieces to golden color in mustard oil, put hot it to the earthen pot having kanji. Cover the pot, set aside.
Keep as it is further for two days.
Dish is ready on Thursday evening.
